Faq for travellers from Mumbai planning Do Dham Yatra in 2024

You can start your journey to the Do Dham Yatra from Dehradun, Haridwar, or Delhi. It’s easier to begin from these cities.

If you start from Haridwar or Dehradun, it will take you about 7 to 8 days to finish the Yatra. If you start from Delhi, it will take a bit longer, around 8 to 9 days.

Soon, a new expressway between Delhi and Dehradun will open, making the journey from Delhi quicker, also about 7-8 days.

Since Delhi has good train and flight connections, it’s best to arrive there first on day 1 and then head straight to Haridwar, which is now just a 3-hour drive from Delhi.

After completing your pilgrimage, you can return to Delhi and then travel to Mumbai by train or plane

Day 1: Arrive in Delhi from Mumbai in the morning or early evening, then travel by road to Haridwar for your overnight stay.

Day 2: After breakfast, visit the Har ki Pauri ghat in Haridwar, then head to Sonprayag by noon. If rooms are not available in Sonprayag, alternative accommodations in Sitapur or Guptkashi are possible.

Day 3: Early morning in Sonprayag, register for your Kedarnath Dham visit, then travel to Gaurikund via shared cab. From Gaurikund, embark on an 18 km walk or opt for a horse or Palki ride to Kedarnath base camp, where you’ll stay overnight.

Day 4: Visit the Kedarnath Dham temple between 4 am to 6 am to avoid crowds. After darshan, rest and have breakfast before returning to Gaurikund, either by walking or using alternative transportation. Then, return to Sonprayag or Guptkashi for overnight stay.

Day 5: Travel 200 km by road to Badrinath town. Visit the Badrinath Dham temple and attend the evening aarti if time permits, or plan for darshan the following day.

Day 6: Have darshan in the morning if not done the previous day, then proceed to Rudraprayag, a 150 km drive. En route, visit the Panch Prayag site. Overnight stay in Rudraprayag.

Day 7: Depart from Rudraprayag for Delhi, a 390 km drive taking 10-11 hours. Your Do Dham Yatra concludes, and you’ll rest in Delhi before departing for Mumbai on day 8.

Day 8: Travel back to Mumbai from Delhi.
