Char Dham Yatra Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive at Barkot from Haridwar/ Dehradun
Day 2: Darshan of Yamunotri Dham temple with 5+5 km trek & night stay at Barkot.
Day 3: Arrive at Guptkashi & local sightseeing.
Day 4: Darshan of Gangotri Dham temple and back to Uttarkashi hotel.
Day 5: Arrive at Sitapur/ Guptkashi & local sightseeing.
Day 6: Darshan of Kedarnath temple after 18 km trek & night stay at Kedarnath.
Day 7: Come back to Sonprayag (starting point pf Kedarnath yatra) & night stay at Guptkashi
Day 8: Arrive at Pipalkoti & enjoy local sightseeing.
Day 9: Arrive Badrinath have darshan & come back to Pipalkoti for night stay.

Char Dham Yatra trip planning for 2026
1. Char Dham Yatra Dates:
Yatra in 2026 will start from 19 April 2026, when the gates of Yamunotri Dham will open. In the next 5 days, the other three Dhams will also open for all travellers. The Yatra in 2026 will continue till the 1st week of November.
2. Char Dham Yatra Registration
To register all the members of your family for the Char Dham Yatra, you have 3 options:
- Visit http://registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in and register every traveller.
- On the same website, see the number for WhatsApp registration, which is 8394833833. Just save the number, send the message “Yatra”, and fill in the requested information.
- Visit the offline counters in Haridwar and at railway stations and bus terminals in Haridwar and Dehradun.
3. Horse & Palki Service at Kedarnath
After reaching Gaurikund from Sonprayag, which is a 5 km drive in a shared cab, you can contact horse & palki service providers at the below suggested fares:
- Pony (one way): Approx. ₹4,000 – ₹6,000
- Pony (round trip): Approx. ₹7,000 – ₹9,000
- Palki (one way): Approx. ₹8,000 – ₹12,000
- Palki (round trip): Approx. ₹14,000 – ₹18,000
- Dandi service: Approx. ₹6,000 – ₹9,000
During peak dates, even horse & palki services get limited, so start the Yatra by around 4–5 AM so that you can reach Kedarnath base camp by late evening.

Normally, you will visit many temples & tourist attractions that come on the route, such as:
- Har Ki Pauri Ghat & temples in Haridwar
- Saptarishi Kund and Hanuman Chatti on the Yamunotri Dham Yatra
- Harsil Valley near Gangotri Dham
- Vishwanath Temple in Uttarkashi
- Ukhimath Omkareshwar Temple near Guptkashi
- Adi Shankaracharya Statue, Bhim Shila, and Bhairavnath Temple at Kedarnath

But if you can give 1–3 extra days, you can also visit:

FAQ on Char Dham Yatra family package & trip:
Question 1: How much will it cost for a family of 4 to complete the Char Dham Yatra from Haridwar?
Answer: If you opt for a group tour for a family of 5, where transportation will be in a shared bus, the transportation & hotel package with breakfast will cost around Rs 62,600 for 6 people. If you opt for a cab like an Ertiga, then the all-inclusive cost with hotel and breakfast will come to around Rs 100,000 for 5 people for a 10 days / 9 nights Yatra.
Question 2: Is it safe to travel with kids & senior citizens on a Char Dham Yatra?
Answer: Yes, but with precautions. Always carry basic cold medicines. Travellers with existing medical conditions are suggested to carry an extra one week of medicines, especially those that are not easily available.
Question 3: Is it easy to get helicopter service for Char Dham Yatra?
Answer: Yes, if you want to book it for the entire Char Dham Yatra. However, it is very difficult if you only want helicopter service for Kedarnath, as it is in huge demand.
Question 4: How is the weather during Char Dham Yatra?
Answer: During the months of April, May & June, the daytime temperature is around 15°C to 25°C, and at night it can drop to around 8–10°C. In the winter months, the daytime temperature is around 5–10°C, and at night it can fall between -5°C to -20°C.
