Char Dham Yatra Registration process in 2026

Char Dham Yatra registration is a mandatory measure which was introduced by the Uttarakhand Government to manage travellers movement on the Yatra, and also ensure a smooth darshan experience at all four Dhams, especially at Kedarnath Dham.
Whether you are starting your journey from Dehradun by cab, tempo traveller, or private vehicle, completing your registration before departure is very important.
Without a valid Yatra registration slip, entry at major checkpoints such as Janki Chatti, Gangotri barrier, Sonprayag, and Badrinath may be restricted.
In peak season, authorities strictly monitor daily travellers limits, so advance registration helps avoid last-minute inconvenience or delays.
Why Registration is Important for Dehradun Travellers?
- Controls daily crowd at Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath & Badrinath
- Helps authorities manage safety during landslides or weather alerts
- Ensures medical and emergency tracking during the Yatra
- Prevents entry issues at Sonprayag & other checkpoints
Online Registration Process (Step-by-Step)
- Visit the official Uttarakhand Tourism portal: registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in
- Create your account using your mobile number
- Verify OTP and log in to your dashboard
- Add all travellers’ details exactly as per government ID
- Select your travel dates and Dhams carefully
- Download your Yatra e-pass after confirmation
Make sure the name and age entered match your Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, or any valid Government ID, as mismatched details can cause issues at verification points.
WhatsApp Registration Facility
For added convenience, pilgrims can also use the Government’s WhatsApp-based registration system.
- Save the official number 8394833833
- Send YATRA on WhatsApp
- Follow the automated instructions and submit required details
This method is useful for travellers who prefer mobile registration without using a desktop website.
Offline Registration Option Near Dehradun
Pilgrims already present in Dehradun, Rishikesh, or Haridwar can register at designated facilitation counters set up by the Government during the Yatra season. However, during peak months (May–June), queues can be long, so online registration is strongly recommended.
Guidance for Our Dehradun Package Guests
If you book our Char Dham Yatra package from Dehradun, our team will remind you about the registration process before the journey begins. We also guide you regarding correct date selection based on your confirmed itinerary.

Your safety & health is our top priority during the Char Dham Yatra from Dehradun.
The basic first-aid kit is available during the Yatra & if any medical situation arises, our drivers will acts quickly take you to the nearest hospital or healthcare facility.
Since the Yatra involves high-altitude travel & long road journeys, we advise all travellers—especially senior citizens to carry their prescribed medicines for 15 days & consult their doctor before planning the Yatra.

For the Char Dham Yatra, helicopter services are available for three types of trips:
Available Helicopter Services for Char Dham:
- 5-day complete Char Dham Yatra from Dehradun
- 3-day Kedarnath & Badrinath (Do Dham) Yatra from Dehradun
- Same-day Kedarnath round trip from Phata / Sersi / Guptkashi helipad
The first two helicopter packages are comparatively easier to book in advance, as their cost ranges from ₹50,000 to ₹2,00,000 per person.
However, the Kedarnath-only helicopter service is extremely difficult to book during peak season. Generally, only around 1,000 passengers are flown per day, while demand can exceed 10,000–15,000 pilgrims daily.
Due to limited seats and high demand, we recommend considering alternative options such as horse or palki services for the Kedarnath trek.
Note: Helicopter services for Char Dham, Do Dham, or Kedarnath Yatra are subject to weather conditions, government approvals, and seat availability. Tickets are never guaranteed and are strictly governed by aviation regulations. Passengers must comply with weight limits and baggage restrictions set by the helicopter operators.

Pony / Palki Support at Kedarnath
Horse and palki services are available for the Kedarnath Yatra trek, which covers approximately 18 km from Gaurikund and is the most physically demanding stretch of the entire Char Dham journey.
For Gangotri and Badrinath, such services are generally not required, as vehicle parking is located close to the temple premises.
However, at Yamunotri Dham, you still need to cover a 5 km trek from Janki Chatti, where you may choose a pony or palki if required.
At Kedarnath, horse and palki arrangements are made locally at Gaurikund by authorised operators.
Please note that pony, palki, or dandi charges are not included in our Char Dham Yatra package from Dehradun. Payments must be made directly to the registered local providers as per the rates fixed by the district administration.
Estimated Charges for 2026 (Approx.):
- Pony (one way): ₹4,000 – ₹6,000
- Pony (round trip): ₹7,000 – ₹9,000
- Palki (one way): ₹8,000 – ₹12,000
- Palki (round trip): ₹14,000 – ₹18,000
- Dandi: ₹6,000 – ₹9,000
Please keep in mind that rates and availability may change each year depending on government regulations, weather conditions, and overall pilgrim traffic.
