Itinerary of Do Dham Yatra from Haridwar:

Day 1: You will leave from Haridwar in the morning around 9–10 AM and reach Guptkashi (200 km / 7-hour drive). After checking in at the booked hotel, you will visit a few famous temples such as Vishwanath Temple, Ardhanarishwar Temple, and Shree Kalimata Temple in Kalimath.

Day 2: Early in the morning, we will first drop you at Sonprayag (30 km / 1-hour drive). From there, you will take a local shared cab (approx. 29 minutes) to Gaurikund, which is 6 km away. Gaurikund is the starting point of the Kedarnath Dham Yatra trek..

You can either walk the 18 km trek, which takes around 8 to 12 hours, or opt for a horse or palki, which takes approximately 6 hours. By night, you will rest at the booked camp or ashram in Kedarnath.

Day 3: Today, you will have the darshan of the first Dham of your Yatra — the Kedarnath Dham Temple. We recommend a 5 AM darshan to avoid the morning crowd.

By noon or around 2–3 PM, begin the trek back to Gaurikund. Later, we will pick you up from Sonprayag and drop you at the booked hotel in Guptkashi for an overnight stay.

Day 4: After an overnight rest, we will leave Guptkashi by 10–11 AM and reach Badrinath town, which is a 190 km / 6–7 hour drive. By late evening, you will check in at the booked hotel and rest.

Day 5: In the morning, we again suggest a darshan time of 5–6 AM to avoid the crowd. And today you will have the darshan of your second Dham — the Badrinath Dham Temple.

With this, your Do Dham Yatra from Haridwar will be completed by noon. Later, after lunch, we will check out from the hotel and proceed to Rudraprayag, which is 150 km away (approx. 5-hour drive). You will check in at the hotel there for an overnight stay.

Day 6: In the morning, after breakfast, we will check out from the hotel and head back to Haridwar, with a visit to the Panch Prayag site in Rudraprayag. By 4 PM, we will reach Haridwar, marking the completion of our 6-day Do Dham Yatra.

FAQ on Do Dham Yatra planning from Haridwar Uttarakhand:

Question 1: Is the route from Haridwar to Kedarnath & Badrinath good?

Answer: Yes, the complete route of Do Dham Yatra (Haridwar > Sonprayag > Badrinath > Rudraprayag > Haridwar) is properly maintained and you will not spend more than 6-7 hours on any single day journey.

Question 2: Which is the best time to plan Do Dham Yatra?

Answer: The Do Dham (Kedarnath & Badrinath) are open for 7 months in a year, from May to mid-November. The best time to visit is before the monsoon, during May and June, when the weather is pleasant and there is no rainfall. September and October are also considered good months, as winter is just beginning and not too harsh.

The lowest crowd is usually seen during the rainy season, in July and August.

Question 3: How is Do Dham Yatra covered by Helicopter?

Answer: The Do Dham Yatra can be completed in just 3 days, starting from Dehradun. On Day 1, you will fly from Dehradun to Guptkashi and then to the Kedarnath Base Camp Helipad. Within just 2 hours, you will have the darshan of the Kedarnath Dham temple, as a separate line is available for travelers arriving by helicopter.Later, you will return to the Guptkashi Helipad and rest for the day.

On Day 2, you will fly from the Guptkashi Helipad to the Badrinath Helipad, have darshan at the temple, visit a few nearby sites, and rest for the day in Badrinath. On Day 3, you will fly back to the Dehradun Helipad, completing the Do Dham Yatra in just 3 days.

Question 4: What all items I should carry on Do Dham Yatra?

Answer: First and foremost, ensure all your members’ registration is completed. You can refer to our Char Dham registration guide for detailed instructions.

Secondly, be prepared for trekking, as getting a helicopter service only for Kedarnath Dham can be very difficult. Therefore, either opt for a horse, palki, or prefer walking.

Thirdly, always carry a water bottle, basic cold medicine, a raincoat, waterproof shoes, extra socks, and sunscreen. Finally, have patience, as sometimes the line for Kedarnath Dham yatra can extend up to 3-4 hours. That’s why we suggest having the early morning darshan, which starts at 4 am.

Question 5: How to reach Haridwar?

Answer: By road: Haridwar is well connected with Delhi, Lucknow, Chandigarh and now you can reach Haridwar in less than three hours from Delhi via the new Delhi Dehradun Expressway.

By train: Haridwar is well-connected by trains from Delhi, and you can comfortably reach Haridwar in just a 4-hour train ride.

By Air: The closest airport to Haridwar is Jolly Grant Airport, which is less than 60 km away, approximately a 1-2 hour drive. However, many of our guests prefer to fly into Delhi Airport and then take a cab for the drive to Haridwar

Question 6: How much time will it take to have darshan of Kedarnath & Badrinath temple?

Answer: If you go for the early morning darshan of Kedarnath Dham (between 4–6 AM), it can be completed in just 1–2 hours. The same applies to Badrinath — an early morning darshan usually takes only 1–2 hours.
However, if you go for darshan in the afternoon or evening, it can take anywhere from 4 to 7 hours at a single temple.
