About Kedarnath Yatra:
The Yatra of Kedarnath Dham will start from 14-May-2024 and will continue until 2-Nov-2024. In these 6-7 months, May & June will be most crowded as the weather at Kedarnath will be much better than other months.
The starting trekking point of Kedarnath Dham is Gaurikund, which is 5 km north from Sonprayag, which is the last stop where a tourist cab bus can take you. From Sonprayag, you need to sit in a shared Mahindra Bolero Car, which will drop you at Gaurikund.
From Gaurikund, Kedarnath Temple or base camp is a 16-18 km walk, which you can cover in an 8-10 hour walk, or a 2-4 hour palki/horse ride. There is also the option of a helicopter, but it’s very difficult to get a confirmed ticket due to the huge demand.
The timings of Kedarnath Temple are from 4 am to 7 pm, and soon the temple will also be open at night. Be prepared to stand in line for 2-3 hours or opt for early morning darshan, which we suggest for a shorter line or less waiting time.
And finally, be well mentally prepared as the Kedarnath Yatra is not easy, though every year more and more people are coming here as facilities are being added here every year, all thanks to the local government.
