Patalpani Waterfall
Patalpani Waterfall (also known as Patal Paani) is a popular spot located in the Mhow Tehsil of Indore district, specifically in the Chariya Dabri area near Dr. Ambedkar Nagar.
This is a 300 foot tall (91-meter) waterfall which comes from Choral River, a tributary of Narmada River, where water drops straight into a deep gorge.
The Story Behind the Name
According to local tales, the water falls from such a height and goes in the bottom of the gorge, or a pit, that no ones see the bottom, so its assumed that water reaches “Patal” Underworld. Because of this belief, the name of this waterfall became Patal Pani Watefall.

- Distance: Patal Pani waterfall is 35 km drive from Indore & takes about a 1 hour drive to reach here.
- Connectivity: A road trip, like hiring a taxi from Indore and coming here is the fastest mode. Plus there is also a heritage train that passes through Patalpani and Kalakund forest. But still you need to reach the parking and then the view point area by road.
- Parking: Yes, a big parking is available just next to the entrace gate, where kids can also enjoy battery car rides.
Key Attractions of Patalpani Waterfall
- 180 Degree View Point: A dedicated viewpoint has been created from where you can see the waterfall, and it’s on the right hand side to give visitors a full 180 degree view of the waterfall.
- Heritage Train: You can ride the Patalpani–Kalakund Heritage Train, which runs only during the monsoon. This is a slow train which passes through the Patalpani Railway Station and offers views of dense forests, tunnels, and deep valleys around Patalpani and Kalakund.
- Activities: It is a great place for family picnics, photography, simple walks, normal trekking, and horse rides.
- Local Wildlife: You will find many langurs in the area. They love tourists because visitors feed them, especially roasted corn, which is sold everywhere around the spot.

The best time to see the waterfall is during the monsoon season from July to October. During the rest of the months, the waterfall remains dry.
Tincha Waterfall
Tincha Waterfall is located in Tillore village in Indore district and is about 40 km from Indore Airport. Tincha Waterfall is one of the most beautiful waterfalls to see near Indore.
Location and Accessibility
- Distance & Travel Time: Although it is 30–40 km from Indore, the drive by car can take 1 to 2+ hours.
- Parking & Entrance: If coming by car, there is a parking fee of ₹ 100.
- Trek to Viewpoint: From the parking area, you will walk or trek for a few minutes (around 400–500 meters) through a very green path to reach the main viewpoint.
- Timing Suggestion: It is best to visit between sunrise and sunset, with 6 pm being the last recommended time to be there.

Tincha Waterfall MP
Waterfall Height & Appearance: The Tincha Waterfall has a height of 300 feet, which is almost the same as Patalpani Waterfall. Because the water falls from such a great height, it looks like milk, and sometimes you can even spot a rainbow here.
The Viewpoint: At the viewpoint, a safety railing has been installed, which visitors should not cross. From this point, you first see a huge green canyon with a river passing through it, alongside the waterfall.
Bridge Walk: Apart from the main viewpoint, you can also walk to a bridge situated behind the waterfall.
Distant Views: From here, you can get a distant view of Mohadi Waterfall, which is another entry on the list of best waterfalls near Indore.
Atmosphere and Wildlife
While langurs are common at Patalpani, Tincha Waterfall is home to many monkeys. The area also features lots of birds, allowing visitors to hear their beautiful calls.
Although the Tincha Waterfall area is not as developed as Patalpani, the surrounding area has been developed into a picnic spot. You will find many local stalls nearby selling roasted corn, water bottles, tea, and other items.

Tincha Waterfall is created by monsoon rivers, making it a seasonal waterfall. The best time to visit is during the monsoon season from July to September. In the summer, the water reduces to just 5%.
Mohadi Waterfall
Around 40 km from Indore City and just 5-8 km from Tincha Waterfall, Mohadi Waterfall (also known as Mohadi Falls) is a 250 feet high waterfall. Surrounded by lush green valleys.
Location and Accessibility
It is situated 40 km from Indore City and just 4 km from Tincha Waterfall, accessible by driving on the Indore-Khandwa road. From the parking area, you will need to walk or trek for 1 km to reach the Mohadi Waterfall viewpoint.
Mohadi Waterfall is more of a hidden waterfall, as to reach here yon need to do some difficult trekking, which I personally suggest is not safe for senior citizens. So always wear proper trekking shoes for the journey as the trekking path here is not straight, and some senior citizens may find this walk very difficult.
The recommended timing to visit the site is between 6 am and 5 pm.

Mohadi Waterfall MP
Mohadi Waterfall drops from a height of 250 feet, and unlike the first two waterfalls I shared above, here you can actually walk right up to the waterfall and sit near it, at the bottom.
It is a non-commercial spot which is perfect for photographers and nature lovers, where you can spot migratory birds and see local villagers bringing their cows and goats along the trekking path.
You will not find many snack options here, so it is best to carry your own water bottle and dry snacks. So if you want to enjoy a full day of trekking, and peaceful sightseeing, Mohadi Waterfall is nest for you.
Hatyari Khoh Waterfall
Hatyari means “killer” and Khoh means “gorge,” so this place can be called the Killer Gorge Waterfall, which stands around 600 feet tall and sometimes features naturally forming fog. To come here, you need to first arrive at Telyakhedi village and then trek 2 km to reach the waterfall.
Location and Accessibility
To visit this spot, you must first arrive at Telyakhedi village, which serves as the starting point for the trip.
From Telyakhedi village, you need to trek 2 km through the area to reach the waterfall. The trekking path is a bit tough, so visitors should be prepared for a challenging walk.
This is a hidden gem, meaning you will find very few shops for food and water, so it is best to carry your own food and water.
Key Features of Hatyari Khoh Waterfall
The waterfall drops from a height of around 600 feet into the gorge, and you will sometimes see fog being naturally created here.
When asking locals about the name, some said that during British rule many locals jumped from here, others said local rulers used to throw their prisoners from the fall, and some said pigs from nearby villages fell at night and screamed horribly if they survived, leading villagers to name this waterfall as a Killer.
The trekking route offers a magical experience where you can hear the sounds of many birds as you walk.
Along the path, you will also see many local villagers’ goats grazing on the grass in the surrounding area.
So, this waterfall comes under the category of a high-risk, remote place and is perfect for youngsters.
Junapani Waterfall
Located 30 km south of Indore, Junapani Waterfall is a beautiful and less-crowded spot that offers peak views during the monsoon season from June to September.
Because of its location, visitors can easily plan to visit both this site and Patalpani Waterfall in a single day.

You can navigate to Bagora village using Google Maps, but from there, you will need to rely on local villagers to guide you to the main site.
Reaching the waterfall involves a 30 minute to an hour trek that ranges from moderate to difficult.
It is not recommended to visit on heavy rainy days because the trekking trail becomes quite slippery.
If possible, it is recommended to hire a local villager as a guide to assist you along the way.
Key Features of Junapani Waterfall
Because of the challenging trek required to reach it, the waterfall remains uncrowded, which makes the surrounding area even more beautiful.
The nearby natural environment is filled with colorful wildflowers and the sweet sounds of singing birds.
At the bottom of the waterfall, there is a natural pool where travelers can take a swim.
Some adventurous travelers choose to camp here overnight, though doing so is entirely at their own risk.
Gidiya Khoh Waterfall
Located 51 km east of Indore, Gidiya Khoh Waterfall is a high-reward destination where the nearby river and lush greenery make the journey well worth the effort. The waterfall plunges from a height of around 200 to 250 feet, offering an amazing view of the valley that draws many young travelers despite the rough approach road.
Location and Accessibility
To reach the site, it is best to first navigate to Gidiya Village and start the journey from there.
The final 2 to 3 km road to reach Gidiya Khoh Waterfall may not be in the best condition, but the scenic surroundings make up for it.
From Gidiya Village, you will take a 1 to 2 km walk that is pretty straightforward with no mountains, though the path can be very muddy, so bringing suitable footwear like slippers is helpful.
Reaching the waterfall itself is not difficult, but visitors should exercise caution because there is no safety railing installed at the site.
Key Features of Gidiya Khoh Waterfall
Along the walk, you will first arrive at a small river and follow it for about 5 minutes to reach the top of the waterfall.
The top of the fall features lots of natural rocks from where the water drops down into the gorge.
The waterfall plunges roughly 200 to 250 feet, opening up to a spectacular valley view.
Because there is no protective railing at the top, visitors must remain careful while standing near the edge and taking in the views.

Chidiya Bhadak Waterfall
Located 58 km south of Indore, Chidiya Bhadak Waterfall gets its name from local phrasing meaning an angry bird, likely because the surrounding natural rock formations resemble the shape of an angry bird.
Location and Accessibility
Parking is available about 1 km before the falls, from where you must walk through a dense jungle for a 20 to 30 minutes trek if you follow the correct path.
A natural path leads from the parking area to the waterfall, but there are no signboards along the way since this is a remote waterfall, so it is best not to go alone and to carry your own food and water.
Since many local shepherds roam the area with their sheep, you can seek their assistance to guide you to the waterfall.
Key Features of Chidiya Bhadak Waterfall
Reaching this remote waterfall rewards visitors with stunning natural beauty.
Rather than being a high waterfall dropping hundreds of feet, it features a unique natural rock formation with multiple steps along a long rocky terrain where you can find a place to sit or cautiously jump into the water when the flow is low.
According to local villagers, community members gather here on Purnima (full moon nights) to perform rituals for the upliftment of their village.
Jogi Bhadak Waterfall
Located 62 km from Indore, Jogi Bhadak Waterfall stands at a height of around 400 feet with a large natural pool at the bottom.
It is situated close to Bhadakla Waterfall, making it easy for visitors to plan a trip to both waterfalls together.
Location and Accessibility
To reach the waterfall, you will start from Dhal village and trek 3 to 4 km through a dense jungle, which takes about 1 to 2 hours.
The trek is moderate in difficulty, but the terrain can be challenging with slippery paths and water currents that can increase quickly.
Because of the tough terrain, you should do proper local research before coming, and it is highly suggested to hire a guide from Dhal village or go in a group.
Apart from the starting village, you will not find food options along the way, so be sure to carry your own food and water.

The waterfall plunges from a height of around 400 feet into a large pool at the bottom.
Because of the difficult trek required to reach the spot, the area remains untouched by many travellers and sees very little crowd.

Bhadakla Waterfall
Located 60 km south of Indore, Bhadakla Waterfall is situated in a deep forest under the Vindhyachal forest range.
It is located close to Jogi Bhadak Waterfall, so we suggest planning a single trip from Indore to cover both of these waterfalls together.
Location and Accessibility
To reach the Bhadakla Waterfall, you need to park your car at Dhaal village and then start a 3–4 km trek through the dense forest, it can take an hour.
The trek to Bhadakla Waterfall involves a risky and steep, slippery trek, so we only suggest experienced travellers visit this remote waterfall.
Because all of the trekking takes place inside a jungle, it is important to be cautious along the trail.

Located 41 km south of Indore, Bagoda Waterfall is situated in Imalipura near Simrol. It is located close to the popular Kalakund Camping and picnic site, offering a quiet and natural escape for visitors.

To reach the site, you start from a mountain and trek downwards toward the waterfall area.
The final stretch involves a 5 to 10-minute walk along a small river and over natural rocks to arrive at the fall.
The trek leads to a small but very remote waterfall site nestled in nature.
Key Features of Bagoda Waterfall
Its proximity to the Kalakund Camping and picnic site makes it an easy addition to a broader day trip itinerary.
The scenic approach takes you right alongside the flowing river, creating an enjoyable short walking experience.
Bamniya Kund Waterfall
Bamniya Kund Waterfall is located roughly 50 km from Indore near Badgonda village, past Mhow.
This waterfall is in the middle of a dense forest, and its height of about 140–150 feet.
Location and Accessibility
The waterfall is situated about 50 km from Indore via the AB Road / Mhow–Badgonda route, with the starting point located at Badgonda village.
Reaching the base requires a 4 to 5 km downhill forest trek that takes around 1 to 1.5 hours each way, passing through river and rocky route.
The trek is somewhat difficult, where you will be continuous moving downwards to reach there and later uphill climb come back.
There are no facilities near the fall, so bring water & food.
Key Features of Bamniya Kund Waterfall
Unlike many monsoon waterfalls that turn muddy, Bamniya Kund is famous for its quite clean, and the bottom natural pool surrounded with natural rocks.
Its remote location makes it a favourite for weekend adventure seekers and you will also see many campsite nearby.
The best time to visit is post-monsoon from August to December, when the water stays deep and blue while the surrounding forest remains dense and green.
