Kumbhalgarh Fort is a World Heritage Site and ranks among the largest forts of India. The powerful walls of this fort are 36 km long, built over 13 hills, and this wall is the longest wall in India and also one of the longest in the world.

Though the fort was built in the 6th century, much of the current architecture of this fort was built in the 15th century by Rana Kumbha, a powerful ruler of the Mewar dynasty. The fort is so massive and huge that enemies found it impossible to conquer this fort.

The fort has has thick outer walls with huge bastions to look over the enemy, massive gateways, zigzag winding roads, and other fortified structures, that make it a fort with brilliant fort architecture.

Inside there are Jain and Hindu temples, huge gates or pols, palaces. Most visited places in Kumbhalgarh Fort are:

• Neelkanth Mahadeo Temple
• Vedi Temple
• Muchhal Mahavir Temple

The fort takes approx 3 hours to visit the temples, palaces, water tanks and other structures inside. You will get breathtaking views of Aravalli hills and sand dunes of Thar desert from the top of the fort. Light and Sound Show in the evenings will give you a audio-visual tour of the history of the fort.

Taxi and cabs are not allowed inside the fort, so you will have to visit the fort by walking and trekking. The fort opens 9 am in the mornings till 6 pm in the evenings.

Apart from the fort, Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary is an area around the fort, which is full of natural vegetation and wild creatures.
