Complete Jaisalmer itinerary:
We will start with our 2 days itinerary for Jaisalmer which is the minimum time required to explore Jaisalmer, though ideal is 3 days 2 nights, but lets start with our 2 days travel plan.
2 days itinerary for Jaisalmer
So I am assuming that you have reached Jaisalmer last night (important if you only have 2 nights) and then today, on day 1 you will explore:
DAY 1: Jaisalmer Fort & Desert Safari
From morning to 3 om, you will first explore Jaisalmer Golden Fort, which is also known as "Sonar Quila". This is one of the only living fort in India where 3000-4000 people still live inside the fort.
Sites to see inside the Jaisalmer Fort are Patwon ki Haveli, Nathmal ki Haveli, Salim Singh Haveli, Badal Mahal, 300-600 years old Jain Temples, and Cannon point.
Then by 4 pm, leave for Jaisalmer Desert National Park where you will enjoy desert safari, camping and many more activities, along with night stay in Camp. The area of all these activities is Sam Sand Dunes which is 45 km drive from city.

At Sam sand dunes, you will first check in at the booked desert camp (or you can skip this and come back to city hotel for night stay) and then enjoy activities like:
- Camel Safari
- Jeep Safari
- Quad bike
- Visit Sam sunset point.
All these activities are enjoyed till 7 pm and then 7:30 pm to 10 pm, you will enjoy a musical dance program at the camp with buffet dinner. Check the below video of the program.
DAY 2: Jaisalmer Desert & City Sightseeing
After spending the night in the desert, you will explore a few tourist sites in the Jaisalmer desert and city. By lunchtime, you will have visited:
Kuldhara Haunted Village, Amar Sagar Jain Temple, Bada Bagh, and Vyas Chhatri.
After lunch, you will visit Gadisar Lake, the Jaisalmer War Museum, NK Sharma Puppet Show, and explore the local markets.
With this, your 2-day trip to Jaisalmer will be complete. You can either catch the night bus, train, or flight back home, or plan your departure for the next day (Day 3).
We usually recommend our guests plan a minimum 3 days/ 2 nights Jaisalmer tour package, with arrival on day 1 before 2 pm and departure on day 3 after 4 pm.

3 days itinerary for Jaisalmer
As stated above, 3 days/2 nights is the ideal minimum time required to explore Jaisalmer. In this 3-day Jaisalmer itinerary, we have provided the best arrival and departure times, along with all the sites to visit and activities to enjoy in Jaisalmer.
DAY 1: Jaisalmer arrival & evening Sightseeing
Morning to noon arrival in Jaisalmer, rest for some hours and from 3 pm to night we have planned a small Jaisalmer city sightseeing tour where you will visit:
- Vyas Chhatri, Gadisar Lake and attend NK Sharma puppet show in their own private museum.
Your night stay today will be Jaisalmer city hotel.
DAY 2: Jaisalmer Fort Sightseeing & desert adventure
After your breakfast, you will leave for Jaisalmer Fort, to visit: Patwon ki Haveli, Nathmal ki Haveli, Salim Singh Haveli, Badal Mahal, 300-600 years old Jain Temples, and Cannon point.
Then from 4 pm to night, you will first arrive at Sam Sand Dunes, 45 km drive from Jaisalmer city, and enjoy: Desert Camp stay and musical dance program with dinner, Camel & Jeep Safari, explore Sam sunset point & other paid activities like Quad bike, Paragliding etc.
Your night stay today will be at the desert camp.
DAY 3: Half day Desert & City sightseeing and evening departure.
After your breakfast at the camp, you will check out by 10 am & leave for the city.
On route, and in/near the city, you will visit Kuldhara Haunted Village, Khaba Fort (optional), Bada Bagh, and the Jaisalmer War Museum.
By 4 pm or later, the driver will drop you at Jaisalmer Airport, Railway Station, or Bus Stop, concluding our 3days/ 2nights Jaisalmer tour package.
4 days itinerary for Jaisalmer
DAY 1: Arrival in Jaisalmer
As suggested in the previous itineraries for Jaisalmer, arrive in the city and enjoy a half-day sightseeing tour, followed by an overnight stay at your hotel. Today's sights include:
- Vyas Chhatri, Gadisar Lake and attend NK Sharma puppet show in their own private museum.
DAY 2: Jaisalmer Fort tour with Desert Safari & Camping
From 9 AM to 4 PM, explore the following landmarks::
- Patwon ki Haveli, Nathmal ki Haveli, Salim Singh Haveli, Badal Mahal, 300-600 years old Jain Temples, and Cannon point.
After 4 PM, head to Sam Sand Dunes for an unforgettable desert experience until 10 AM the next day. Enjoy:
- Desert Camp stay and musical dance program with dinner, Camel & Jeep Safari, explore Sam sunset point & other paid activities like Quad bike, Paragliding etc.
Tonight, you will stay in a desert camp at Sam, Jaisalmer.
DAY 3: Longewala & Tanot Mata day trip
After checking out from the desert camp at 10 AM, head to Longewala, located near the India-Pakistan border. Your first stop will be at the famous Tanot Mata Temple, which houses bombs, bullets, and missiles that didn’t detonate during the 1965 war.
Next, visit the Longewala Post, the site of the famous battle. A permit is required to visit, which we recommend arranging a day in advance.
By evening, return to Jaisalmer for an overnight stay at your hotel.
DAY 4: Half day Jaisalmer city & desert sightseeing & departure
As most departures from Jaisalmer are scheduled for after 4 PM, use the first half of the day to explore::
- Jaisalmer War Museum, Amar Sagar Jain Temple & local city markets.
And by evening, your 4 days 3 nights Jaisalmer tour program is finished,

If you're planning a 5-day Jaisalmer tour package, we suggest the following itinerary:
Day 1: Jaisalmer arrival
Arrive in Jaisalmer by 3 PM and start your tour with visits to popular sites such as Gadisar Lake and Vyas Chhatri. After sightseeing, check in and rest for the night at a hotel in the city.
Day 2: Fort & Desert Sightseeing
Start your day with a tour of Jaisalmer Fort, including:

- Salim Singh Haveli
- Badal Mahal
- 300-600 year-old Jain Temples
- Cannon Point
In the afternoon, head to Sam Sand Dunes, about a 45-minute drive from Jaisalmer, arriving by 5 PM. Enjoy an evening filled with desert adventures, including:

- Sam Sunset Point
- Optional activities like quad biking, paragliding, etc.
We recommend staying overnight at the desert camp for a unique experience, although returning to a city hotel is also an option..
Day 3: Jodhpur Arrival
After breakfast at the desert camp, check out by 10 AM and head to Jodhpur (a 5-hour drive). On the way, stop to visit:
- Kuldhara Village
- Amar Sagar Jain Temple
- Jaisalmer War Museum
Arrive in Jodhpur by 7 PM and rest for the night at your hotel
Day 4: Jodhpur Sightseeing
Today, explore the key attractions of Jodhpur, including:
- Mehrangarh Fort
- Jaswant Thada
- Umaid Bhawan Palace
- Mandore Gardens
- Clock Tower
- Local markets of Jodhpur
After a full day of sightseeing, return to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 5: Departure
Depending on your travel schedule, catch your flight, train, or bus from Jodhpur. If you have some extra time in the morning, consider visiting Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park before departure.
