9 Days Itinerary for Do Dham Yatra from Pune
Day 1: Today, you will catch the train from Pune to Delhi. Your overnight stay today will be in the train.
Day 2: Today, you will arrive at Delhi Railway Station, from where our driver will greet you and drive you towards Haridwar, which is now around a 4–5 hour drive.
Upon reaching Haridwar, you will first check into the booked hotel. Later, if you are not tired, you can visit Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar, where you can attend the famous evening Ganga Aarti and also explore a few nearby temples. Your overnight stay today will be in Haridwar.
Day 3: Today morning, at around 8–10 am, you will check out from the hotel and leave for Guptkashi, which is around 200 km from Haridwar. The journey generally takes around 6–7 hours depending upon road and weather conditions.
If you leave Haridwar by around 10 am, then you will reach Guptkashi by evening and check into the booked hotel. Later, if you are not tired, you can also visit the famous Vishwanath Temple in Guptkashi and explore the local market. Your overnight stay today will be in Guptkashi or Sitapur.
Day 4: Early in the morning around 4–5 am, the driver will take you to Sonprayag, which is around a 30-minute drive from Guptkashi.
From Sonprayag, your Kedarnath Dham Yatra will begin. As private taxis are not allowed beyond Sonprayag, you will first have to take a shared Bolero taxi to Gaurikund, which is around 5 km ahead. Gaurikund is the starting point of the Kedarnath Dham trek. From here, you will begin your 18 km trek to Kedarnath Temple.
A normal person with an easy walking speed can complete the trek in around 8–10 hours. If you feel that trekking for this long will be difficult, then horses and palkis are also available from Gaurikund.
By evening, you will reach Kedarnath Dham Temple. If the crowd is manageable, then you can plan your evening darshan, otherwise you can take the token number and attend the morning darshan the next day.
Your overnight stay today will be in a guest house, dharamshala, or camp near Kedarnath Temple.
Day 5: If you could not attend the darshan yesterday, then today morning you will have the darshan of Baba Kedarnath.
After darshan, you can also visit Bhimshila, which is just behind the temple. It is believed that this huge boulder naturally came during the 2013 floods and protected the Kedarnath Temple from destruction. You can also visit the Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi and Bhairavnath Temple, which is located around half to one kilometer uphill from the main temple.
After lunch, start your return trek towards Gaurikund. The return trek generally takes around 7–8 hours depending upon your walking speed.
By evening or night, you will reach Sonprayag, where our driver will pick you up and drop you back at your hotel in Guptkashi or Sitapur.
Day 6: Today morning, after breakfast, you will check out from the hotel and leave for Badrinath, which is around X km and X hours drive from Guptkashi.
Upon reaching Badrinath, you can plan the evening darshan of Badrinath Dham. If the crowd is heavy, then you can attend the darshan the next morning. Your overnight stay today will be in Badrinath.
Day 7: Today morning, if you could not attend the darshan yesterday, then you will have the darshan of Badrinath Dham.
With this, your visit to both Kedarnath Dham and Badrinath Dham will be completed.
Later, you can also visit nearby sightseeing places like Mana Village, Bhim Pul, Vyas Gufa, Saraswati River, and other attractions near Badrinath.
Around 4–5 pm, we will leave Badrinath for Rudraprayag, which is around X km and X hours drive away. Upon reaching, you will check into the booked hotel and rest for the night.
Day 8: Today, after breakfast, you will check out from the Rudraprayag hotel and leave for Rishikesh, which is around X km and X hours drive away.
On route, we will also stop at Panch Prayag, where you can witness the sacred confluences of rivers that occur on the Char Dham route. Panch Prayag refers to the five holy Sangam points of Uttarakhand.
By around 4–5 pm, you will reach Rishikesh. Upon reaching, you will check into the booked hotel and later visit the beautiful ghats of Rishikesh.
You can also attend the evening Ganga Aarti at Parmarth Niketan Ashram and visit famous sightseeing places like Ram Jhula, Laxman Jhula, Triveni Ghat, and nearby temples. Your overnight stay today will be in Rishikesh.
Day 9: Today, you will check out from the Rishikesh hotel and leave for Delhi.
If your train or flight timing is in the evening or night, then you can also plan a few more sightseeing stops in Rishikesh or Haridwar before leaving for Delhi. We will try to drop you at Delhi Railway Station or Airport at least 4 hours before your departure timing.

Opening and Closing Date of Do Dham Temples in 2026
The Kedarnath Temple opened on 22 April 2026, and just one day after, the Badrinath Dham Temple was also opened for pilgrims. The yatra of the Do Dham will continue till 11 November 2026.
During April, May, and June, you will get a very good crowd in both Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham. In July and August, the number of tourists becomes comparatively lower because of monsoon rains in Uttarakhand.
Then again, the winter yatra season from September up to November starts, where pilgrims visit the temples with pleasant weather and beautiful Himalayan views.
Do Dham Yatra Route Map / Itinerary
As we have already explained the itinerary of our packages in simple terms, if you want to know more about the detailed itinerary or route map of Kedarnath Yatra, then it starts like this.
The starting point of Kedarnath Yatra should be Haridwar, Rishikesh, or Dehradun.
Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Dehradun are all easily connected with Delhi, and thanks to the new Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, you can reach these three cities from Delhi in around 4 hours.
Most of the trips start from Haridwar and Rishikesh, while Dehradun trips are especially for those travelers who have booked direct flights to Dehradun Jolly Grant Airport.
The route map of the Yatra is as follows:
- Haridwar / Rishikesh arrival, which is considered as Day 1.
- On Day 2, the guests or travelers leave for Guptkashi, which is around a 200 km drive and takes around 6 to 7 hours, including 15 to 30 minutes breaks on route.
- After arrival at Guptkashi, travelers rest for the night and get ready for the next day’s Kedarnath Dham Yatra.
- On Day 3, travelers get ready by 4 or 5 AM and first reach Sonprayag, then Gaurikund. Till Sonprayag, private taxis and cars are allowed, but from Sonprayag to Gaurikund, travelers have to take a shared cab.
- From Gaurikund starts the 16 km trek of Kedarnath Dham Yatra.
- By evening, travelers reach Kedarnath Dham. Darshan is generally not possible on the same day because of the huge crowd, so pilgrims usually take the darshan token for the next morning.
- After early morning darshan on the next day, travelers head back to Guptkashi and rest for the night.
- From Guptkashi, travelers leave for Badrinath, which is around a 190 km drive and takes approximately 7 to 8 hours. Evening darshan of Badrinath Dham and night stay at Badrinath.
- From Badrinath Dham, after darshan, travelers leave for Rudraprayag, which is around a 160 km drive and takes approximately 5 to 6 hours. Night stay at Rudraprayag.
- From Rudraprayag, travelers come back to Rishikesh or Dehradun, and the Yatra is completed.
Do Dham Yatra Registration
To get yourself registered for the Do Dham Yatra, you have to visit the Uttarakhand Government registration website, registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in and create a login using your phone number or email ID.
After login, you need to share all the required details like how many members are going for the Yatra, approximate travel dates, and on which date you are planning to visit Kedarnath Dham. Exact dates are not compulsory while registering.
You also need to upload a photo of your Aadhaar card and a passport-size photograph. Even a simple picture clicked from your mobile phone is enough for the registration process.
After submitting the form, you will get an individual Yatra Registration ID and also a Group ID for your journey.
The complete process takes around 5 minutes only, and this registration will be checked at Haridwar during the Yatra. The registration is compulsory for all pilgrims.

Question 1: What would be the best time to plan a Do Dham Yatra from Pune?
Answer: The Do Dham Yatra generally starts in April and continues till November every year.
Among these months, April, May, and June are considered the summer Yatra season, while September, October, and November are known as the winter Yatra season, and both are the best times to visit Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham.
During July and August, the crowd becomes comparatively lower because of the monsoon rains in Uttarakhand, which can also bring landslides and roadblocks in some regions. Therefore, we always suggest travelers plan their Yatra during the summer or winter season.
Question 2: If I am getting a direct train or flight to Haridwar or Dehradun, should I choose that or arrive in Delhi first?
Answer: There are a few trains and flights that directly connect Pune with Haridwar or Dehradun. If those options are available for your travel dates, then we can definitely help you book them.
However, the majority of travelers prefer Delhi because there are many more train and flight options available from Pune to Delhi compared to Haridwar or Dehradun.
Another major advantage is the new Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, because of which a non-stop drive from Delhi Airport or Delhi Railway Station to Haridwar can now be completed in around 3.5 to 4 hours only. That is why we usually suggest our guests first arrive in Delhi.
Question 3: Will there be huge lines for Kedarnath and Badrinath darshan?
Answer: At Badrinath Dham, the lines are generally manageable and not extremely huge. However, at Kedarnath Dham, yes, there can be heavy crowd during peak Yatra season.
Kedarnath Dham follows a token system, where pilgrims are given a specific time slot for darshan. Because of this, we usually suggest our guests reach Kedarnath Dham by evening, collect the token for the next morning, and attend the early morning 5 AM to 6 AM darshan.
So yes, the Yatra can be crowded, but with proper planning, you will comfortably get the darshan of Baba Kedarnath.
Question 4: Is the Do Dham Yatra safe?
Answer: Yes, the overall route of the Do Dham Yatra is considered safe. The roads from Haridwar to Kedarnath, Kedarnath to Badrinath, and Badrinath back to Rishikesh are maintained every year before the Yatra season starts.
Most parts of the road journey are smooth mountain roads, although some stretches are still single-lane hill roads. However, road conditions have improved significantly over the years.
The Kedarnath trek can feel slightly challenging, but it is not considered very difficult. Near the temple area, travelers may walk over glacier-covered sections for a short distance, which is why we strongly recommend carrying good trekking shoes.
Today, people of almost all age groups complete the Kedarnath trek successfully. And if you feel you may not be able to walk the full distance, then horse, palki, and helicopter services are also available from Gaurikund, Phata, Sersi, and Guptkashi.
Question 5: What will be the cost of helicopter ride for Kedarnath only?
Answer: Helicopter services for Kedarnath are officially operated through the IRCTC Heli Yatra portal, and we also help our guests in booking these tickets.
The approximate fare for helicopter tickets ranges between Rs. 9,000 to Rs. 12,000 per person for a round trip. Usually, travelers fly to Kedarnath on Day 1 and return on Day 2.
Travelers who book helicopter tickets also get VIP darshan access at Kedarnath Dham. However, helicopter seats are very limited, and only around 500 to 1,000 passengers can travel daily through helicopter services.
Because of this limited availability, tickets are usually sold out on the very first day of booking opening. Therefore, travelers need to stay prepared in advance if they want helicopter tickets.
Question 6: Is the Yatra safe for senior citizens?
Answer: The safety of senior citizens completely depends on their health condition. We always suggest consulting your family doctor before planning the Yatra.
If your doctor confirms that altitude travel and trekking are manageable for the traveler, then senior citizens can comfortably plan the trip. Every year, many pilgrims in their 70s and even 80s successfully visit Kedarnath Dham.
Senior travelers should always carry their prescribed medicines, cold medicines, and essential health supplies in extra quantity. Also, medical facilities in Kedarnath have improved significantly, and in 2026, hospital facilities are also available near Kedarnath Dham for emergency support.
