FAQ on Do Dham Yatra from Bangalore:
Question 1: Is registration for Kedarnath Dham important and how to do it?
Answer: Yes, its important & compulsory. To do so, you need to first decide the date when you will start the Kedarnath Dham Yatra from Sonprayag, then visit the Uttarakhand government Char Dham Yatra registration website (click here). For more details, visit our Char Dham Yatra Registration page.
Question 2: Which will be the best month to plan Do Dham Yatra in 2025?
Answer: The Yatra will start in May, and the months of May and June will be the most crowded, as the weather conditions are ideal for visiting the Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham. From June onward, some rains begin, with heavier rainfall during July and August. Thus, there will be a crowd in June but very few visitors during the monsoon season. From September, travelers will again start coming in good numbers, but they need to be prepared for extreme cold as well. So, plan according to your convenience.
Question 3: Is Do Dham Yatra, especially Kedarnath Dham Yatra difficult?
Answer: The Badrinath Dham Yatra is easier, as you can park your car not too far from the main temple. However, that’s not the case with the Kedarnath Dham. The last point where private and tourist cars are allowed is Sonprayag. From there, you have to reach Gaurikund (a 5 km drive) using local shared cabs only. After that, there is an 18 km trek, passing through glaciers as well. So yes, it is more difficult compared to the Vaishno Devi Yatra. However, you still have options like horses and palkis, and most importantly, the human willpower that drives millions of pilgrims to complete this journey every year
Question 4: Can I easily get the Helicopter tickets for Kedarnath Dham?
Answer: Yes, you can book helicopter tickets for Kedarnath, with services starting from Phata, Guptkashi, and Sersi helipads (all located near Guptkashi town). However, it is not easy to get a ticket, as there are only about 500–1000 seats available per day, while more than 10,000 people search for these seats daily (online & offline). So, the chances of getting a helicopter ride are roughly 1 in 10.
