About Leh
Leh is an amazing place to explore from Chandigarh.
Leh is like a dry mountain range with extreme cold, even during summer. Daytime temperatures can still be very cold, while in the months of November to March, the temperature in Leh can go down to around minus 20 to minus 30 degrees Celsius. You will see most of the mountains covered with snow in winter, which makes it very beautiful yet challenging to visit.
As per our understanding, the best months to visit Leh are from May to September, when the roads are mostly open. In these areas, landslides can also happen, especially in Himachal Pradesh. Still, many travellers who want to visit Leh during less crowded months prefer September and October. September is a particularly good month for that.
Some of the best places to explore in Leh are Leh Palace, Shanti Stupa, Tsemo Fort, Leh Market, and the Old Town. You will experience a lot of Buddhist culture and visit several monasteries in this area. Along with that, you should also visit Nubra Valley.
Nubra Valley and Hunder are some of the main highlights of a Leh trip, which travellers usually visit to see the cold desert mountains, sand dunes, and double-humped Bactrian camels. Plus, travellers also visit the famous Pangong Lake, which is very beautiful from May to September.
Other activities which you can enjoy, especially outdoor ones, are mountain walking, mountain biking, trekking, river rafting, jeep safari, camel safari, and trekking with an expert, again during the same months.
Do realize that when somebody visits Leh, they need to acclimatize themselves because you are now entering a zone which is around 3,500 metres above sea level. That is why we suggest our guests first reach Keylong and stay there for a while. If you are feeling dizzy or experiencing symptoms of altitude sickness, medicines and medical assistance are available at government or army hospitals, so that you can properly acclimatize yourself before reaching Leh.
